Grace’s journey to beauty school is anything but conventional, having previously worked as a psychologist. Before enrolling at Ella Baché College, Grace had an extensive background in psychology. Originally from Brazil, she moved to Australia 12 years ago and worked in Brisbane as a psychologist, assisting Brazilian immigrants with mental health issues. However, a move to Sydney for her partner’s job prompted her to reassess her career path. Grace found herself without a job in her field and decided it was time to explore anew passion—beauty.

Grace's decision to switch careers was driven by a desire to do something different yet meaningful. "I actually don't think it's completely different because in both aspects you're helping people," Grace explains. She realised that addressing skin issues, which can significantly impact one’s mental health and self-esteem, was a natural extension of her previous work in psychology.

Grace's choice to study at Ella Baché College was influenced by her personal experiences with skincare. Having struggled with acne for many years, she was eager to learn more about skin health and care. The hands-on, in-person training offered at Ella Baché College was a key factor in her decision. "I wanted a connection. I wanted to learn a new thing like beauty," she says. Initially hesitant about using oils, she discovered their goodness and effectiveness through her studies. "The botanical oils have so much goodness for even acne skin," she shares. This new knowledge has not only helped her personally but also equipped her to help future clients.

A Vision for the Future

Grace is hopes to join the Ella Baché network, recognising the professional opportunities it offers. "I think it would be really nice. I like Ella Baché because it's so if you're learning, you cannot just say, 'Oh, I got it.' You have to know what you're doing," she notes.

Grace aspires to open a wellness space that combines beauty techniques with healing experiences. She envisions a space where clients can find a sense of well-being and rejuvenation. The comprehensive training and support at Ella Baché College have given her the confidence to pursue this dream.
